Two women were critically injured in Feni after a man allegedly attacked his wife and her colleague with a machete amid a marital dispute. The incident took place around 7:30 PM on Friday in the Adalat Para area of the city. Locals apprehended the accused, identified as Sujan, 27, and handed him over to police.
The injured are Firoza Akter, 23, and Afsana Akter, 30, who lived together in a rented house and worked at a diagnostic lab in the city. According to police and eyewitness accounts, Sujan, Firoza’s husband, entered the residence and attacked her with a sharp machete. When Afsana intervened, she was also attacked. Both women sustained severe injuries and were first taken to Feni General Hospital before being referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
Family members said the attack followed ongoing marital conflict. Police said preliminary information indicates Firoza had been living separately from her husband and working in the city. The accused reportedly suspected her of an extramarital relationship.
Law enforcement officers later recovered the machete used in the attack during a follow-up operation. Police said further legal proceedings are underway.
