Jui Chakma, candidate of the Revolutionary Workers Party in the Rangamati constituency, alleged that her campaign banners and festoons were torn and expressed fears of polling center capture on election day. She made the claims at a “Meet the Press” event at the election office in the court building area of Rangamati town on Monday evening.
Chakma said she observed code of conduct violations during campaigning in different upazilas and held local election authorities responsible for enforcement. She warned that those disregarding rules during campaigning could create problems at polling centers.
She cited specific incidents of torn banners at Subalong Launchghat and near Hajar Manik Lower Secondary School in Jibtali Union. Calling the acts condemnable, she said the situation had created concern among voters.
Chakma also submitted three demands to the constituency’s returning officer: that polling center results be provided to candidates, that voting be halted immediately at any center where force or capture is alleged, and that those obstructing voting or using intimidation be brought to justice. Campaign officials and supporters were present at the press event.
