A Bangladeshi migrant woman who arrived in Dhaka from Saudi Arabia last week remains unable to state her own name or identity, highlighting serious concerns about her physical and mental condition and the lack of reintegration support for returning workers. She landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on February 12 on a Saudi Airlines flight and has since been placed under the care of the BRAC Migration Welfare Center in Ashkona.

Airport security personnel found her wandering in a disoriented state, unable to recall her home address, family details, or phone numbers. With no passport or identification documents in her possession, authorities transferred her to BRAC for safe accommodation and assistance in tracing her relatives. Staff report that she sometimes sings to herself and speaks incoherently, indicating severe psychological distress.

The only available clue to her identity comes from a plane ticket bearing the name “Rizia Begum” and a possible father or husband named “Abdur Noor.” She is believed to have returned from a shelter run by the Bangladesh Embassy in Jeddah, yet she identifies herself only as “Muslim” and “Saudi.” Despite ongoing counseling, she has been unable to provide any concrete personal information.

BRAC has appealed to the public for help in identifying the woman and locating her family. Officials also noted that many migrant women return to Bangladesh in similarly vulnerable conditions, often without adequate state protection, long-term care, or reintegration services.
