A 32-year-old woman has filed a rape case in Hatia Upazila of Noakhali six days after the alleged assault, accusing multiple individuals of attacking her over how she voted in the recent parliamentary election. The case was submitted on Wednesday to the Women and Children Repression Tribunal at the Noakhali District Judge’s Court, naming six accused and 50–100 unidentified persons.

According to the complaint, the incident occurred around 11 pm the night after the election when several men allegedly forced entry into the woman’s home. The accused reportedly threatened her for voting for an NCP candidate and “Shapla Kali,” confined her husband, and raped her while others remained outside. The following morning, additional attackers allegedly beat the couple with sticks and physically assaulted them. The woman was later admitted to Noakhali’s 250-bed General Hospital.

After her discharge, she filed the case through the tribunal. Her lawyer confirmed that the court has taken cognizance of the complaint and ordered Hatia Police Station to formally register the case and submit an investigation report. The court also instructed the district police to ensure the survivor’s safety.

The survivor said she is too afraid to return home and is currently staying with relatives due to security concerns. Police officials confirmed they will register the case as directed and begin the investigation.
