A 22-year-old woman was gang-raped in Pangsha Upazila of Rajbari after traveling to meet a man she had met on TikTok, according to police and local sources. The incident occurred Friday night at a government shelter facility in Sarisha Union.
The survivor, a resident of Nandail Upazila in Mymensingh, had been in contact with the man for about seven months, during which a romantic relationship developed. Although the relationship reportedly ended on February 14 following a dispute, she was later invited to Pangsha by one of the man’s associates under the pretext of reconciliation and marriage discussions.
According to the case statement, the accused Akash Mondal (29) arranged for her to stay in a room at a government shelter, where he and another man, Jamal Mondal (22), allegedly raped her around 11:30 PM. The attackers also reportedly took 10,000 taka in cash and a gold earring from the survivor.
With assistance from local residents, the woman received initial medical care and filed a case at Pangsha Model Police Station shortly after midnight on Saturday under the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act.
Police officials confirmed that a case has been registered against the two named suspects. As of Sunday afternoon, no arrests had been made, though authorities say efforts are underway to apprehend those involved.
