Multiple Facebook groups in Bangladesh are operating openly, sharing images of children, particularly girls, with predatory statements. These groups have thousands of members who actively share images of underage children, mostly aged 9-14, and voice their predatory intentions. The images are often paired with disturbing comments, and some posts have received over 80 comments encouraging this behavior .

The report by Dhaka Stream highlights the alarming rise in child rape and sexual violence cases in Bangladesh. In recent months, several incidents have been reported, including the death of a 7-year-old girl in Chittagong after an attempted rape. Data from Ain o Salish Kendra shows a 75% increase in rape incidents in the first seven months of 2025, with 306 girls and 30 boys subjected to rape.

Experts warn that the lack of repercussions for these groups is a direct threat to children’s safety. Rubina Hossain, an associate professor of psychiatry, notes that the way these groups operate in the digital sphere is “extremely threatening” and may lead to further exploitation. Supreme Court attorney Faran Md. Aaraf stresses the need for express legislation and a sex offenders registry to address the issue.
