Independent Member of Parliament Barrister Rumin Farhana raised concerns in the National Parliament over indecent remarks made by a male MP during a religious gathering, describing the language used against two women MPs as unacceptable and calling for accountability. The remarks were discussed during a parliamentary session on Thursday.

Addressing the Speaker, Rumin Farhana referred to a media report stating that a sitting MP, Amir Hamza, had used derogatory language about her and another female colleague during a Waz Mahfil. She formally brought the issue to the attention of the House and sought action, emphasizing the seriousness of such remarks directed at women representatives.

In response, Speaker Major (Retd.) Hafiz Uddin Ahmed described the matter as deeply regrettable and asked her to submit a formal notice under the “Question of Privilege” procedure, assuring that the issue would be given due consideration within parliamentary processes.

During the same session, another MP, Saiduddin Ahmad Hanjala, raised a separate concern, alleging that he had been verbally targeted and labeled a “militant” while entering the Parliament premises. He called for an investigation into the incident and requested that CCTV footage be reviewed to identify those responsible.

The parliamentary discussion brought forward multiple concerns regarding language, conduct, and the treatment of elected representatives within and outside the House, with calls for formal review and investigation through institutional mechanisms.
