Bangladesh Feminist Archives

বাংলাদেশে জেন্ডার আলাপে বৈচিত্র্যতা দেখা যায় না তেমন। যেসব বইপত্র আছে, কাজকর্ম প্রকাশিত হয়েছে সবকিছুর মধ্যে এক বাইনারি প্রভাব লক্ষিত। দুই হাজার ছাব্বিশ সালেও কথাবার্তায় নেই কোন নতুনত্ব!  

‘জেন্ডার’ আলাপের নানা বৈচিত্র্যতা এবং নতুনত্বকে তুলে ধরবার জন্যই ‘জেন্ডার: ক্যাঁচাল-প্যাঁচাল’ নামক ভিন্ন ধরণের একটি প্রকশনার উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হয়েছে। বইটিতে থাকবে জেন্ডার বিষয়ক প্রবন্ধ, ছোটগল্প, কবিতা, কমিক স্ট্রিপ, সাক্ষাৎকার, ছবি ইত্যাদি। জেন্ডার ডাইভার্সিটিতে যে যেভাবে নিজের কথা বলতে চায়- সেভাবেই বইয়ে আনার চেষ্টা করা হবে। 

এই সংকলনটি বাংলাদেশ ফেমিনিস্ট আর্কাইভস (Bangladesh Feminist Archives)–এর উদ্যোগে প্রকাশিত হচ্ছে। সম্ভাব্য প্রকাশকাল: ২০২৭।

শর্তাবলী:

১) পূর্বে মুদ্রিত মাধ্যমে (যেমন: পত্রিকা, ম্যাগাজিন) প্রকাশিত লেখা বা ইলাস্ট্রেশন গ্রহণযোগ্য নয়। তবে অনলাইনে প্রকাশিত কাজ জমা দেওয়া যাবে।
২) বাংলা ও ইংরেজি: উভয় ভাষার লেখা গ্রহণযোগ্য।
৩) প্রতিটি সাবমিশনের একটি নির্দিষ্ট শিরোনাম থাকতে হবে।
৪) একাধিক লেখা জমা দেওয়া যাবে; তবে প্রতিটির আলাদা শিরোনাম থাকতে হবে।
৫) লেখা অবশ্যই DOC ফাইল ফরম্যাটে পাঠাতে হবে। ফাইলের নাম শিরোনাম অনুযায়ী নির্ধারণ করতে হবে।
৬) ইলাস্ট্রেশন সাদাকালো হতে হবে এবং PNG ফরম্যাটে জমা দিতে হবে।
৭) ছদ্মনাম ব্যবহার করে কাজ জমা দেওয়া যাবে।
৮) প্রবন্ধ ও গল্পের শব্দসীমা সর্বোচ্চ ৩০০০ শব্দ।

সব সাবমিশন সম্পাদকমণ্ডলী পর্যালোচনা করবে, এবং তাঁদের সিদ্ধান্তই চূড়ান্ত হিসেবে বিবেচিত হবে। প্রকাশিত কাজের জন্য কোনো সম্মানী প্রদান করা হবে না। তবে লেখকদের যথাযথ ক্রেডিট প্রদান করা হবে।

A Call for Submissions

Conversations around gender in Bangladesh continue to lack diversity. Much of the existing literature and published work remains shaped by a dominant binary framework, leaving little room for alternative voices, lived realities, and non-normative experiences. Even today, there is a noticeable absence of multiplicity and newness in how gender is imagined, written, and discussed.

Gender: Kyaanchal-Pyaanchal is an alternative publishing initiative that seeks to disrupt this limitation by creating space for diverse, messy, and expansive engagements with gender. This anthology invites work that moves beyond rigid categories and opens up new ways of thinking, feeling, and speaking about gender.

We welcome essays, short stories, poetry, comic strips, interviews, visual art, and experimental forms. Whether personal, political, speculative, fragmented, or in-between, this is a space to express gender in your own terms. We particularly encourage submissions from marginalized, underrepresented, and non-normative gendered experiences.

This anthology is being developed under the initiative of Bangladesh Feminist Archives. The tentative publication date is around 2027.

Submission Guidelines

1. Previously published works in print (e.g., newspapers, magazines) will not be accepted. However, works published online are eligible.
2. Submissions in both Bangla and English are welcome.
3. Each submission must have a clear title.
4. Multiple submissions are allowed, but each must have separate titles.
5. Written submissions must be in DOC format. Files should be named according to the title of the work or illustration.
6. Illustrations must be in black and white and submitted in PNG format.
7. Submissions may be made under a pseudonym.
8. The word limit for essays and short stories is 3000 words.

All submissions will be reviewed by the editorial team, and their decision will be final.

No honorarium or monetary compensation will be provided for published works. However, full and proper credit will be given to all contributors.
