In Mongla, Bagerhat, allegations have emerged that two women were secretly filmed while bathing inside a residential hotel room. The incident took place at the Singapore Hotel in the Mongla Port municipal area, where the women, identified as NGO workers visiting the area for professional duties, had rented accommodation on May 5.
According to police and local sources, the women discovered that compromising videos were allegedly being recorded through a vent opening connected to the bathroom. After realizing the incident, they gathered evidence and protested to hotel authorities before filing a case at Mongla Police Station under the Pornography Control Act.
Following the complaint, police conducted a late-night operation at the hotel and arrested two individuals: hotel manager Md. Mohsin (40) and hotel employee Boni Amin (23). Another accused individual named in the case remains absconding. Law enforcement officials stated that digital evidence and mobile phones allegedly used in the filming were seized during the operation.
Police reported that the accused admitted during preliminary interrogation to recording videos of the women. Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage from the hotel and investigating whether others were involved in similar activities within the establishment.
The arrested individuals were sent to judicial custody on May 6. The incident has raised concerns regarding privacy, surveillance, and the safety of women in residential hotels, particularly in tourist areas adjacent to the Sundarbans region.
