In Chandina upazila of Cumilla, police arrested two men in connection with the assault and filming of a woman entrepreneur inside her beauty parlor. The arrests were made on May 8 near Mohichail Government Hospital following a case filed under the Pornography Control Act.
According to the survivor, the accused had been harassing her for an extended period after she established a beauty parlor business in Mohichail Bazar. She alleged that when she refused their advances, they threatened to create and circulate obscene videos of her using digital technology unless she paid 300,000 Taka.
The survivor stated that the situation escalated on Thursday afternoon when the accused entered the beauty parlor, assaulted her, and recorded the incident on a mobile phone. Police later arrived at the scene after a call was placed to the national emergency helpline.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that two accused individuals, both local drivers, were arrested and sent to judicial custody. Police also recovered the mobile phone allegedly used to record the video. Authorities stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend another individual connected to the incident.
