Bangladesh Feminist Archives (BDFA) is looking for volunteers who want to help document, preserve, and uplift the powerful legacies of feminist, queer, Indigenous, worker, and grassroots movements across Bangladesh.

BDFA is community-driven and guided by an ethics of care. Your time, skills, and commitment can help ensure these stories are not lost.

Volunteer Opportunities

You can get involved in many areas of BDFA’s work, including:

1. Research & Documentation

  • Find information on feminist events, movements, collectives, protests, organizations.
  • Verify details, dates, names, and contexts.
  • Help build timelines and bibliographies.

2. Organize and Prepare Archive Materials

  • Sort, label, and categorize documents.
  • Help create metadata (titles, descriptions, tags).
  • Upload materials to the website backend (WordPress).

3. Oral History Support

  • Assist with transcription (Bangla & English).
  • Help edit transcripts for clarity.
  • Time-stamp interviews and prepare summaries.

4. Social Media & Communications

  • Draft captions for Instagram/Facebook.
  • Create simple content ideas for public posts.
  • Upload scheduled posts (if needed).

5. Writing & Editing

  • Help refine blog posts, bios, and descriptions.
  • Support writing for campaigns, exhibitions, or program announcements.

6. Translation (Bangla ↔ English)

  • Translate short captions, excerpts, interview sections.
  • Assist with light editing for fluency.

7. Design Support

  • Make simple graphics for events or Instagram using Canva.
  • Help format posters or visuals.

8. Event & Program Assistance

  • Support planning BDFA workshops or online events.
  • Help with outreach, registration, or participant communication.

9. Community Outreach

  • Share BDFA content with networks.
  • Connect with feminist organizations, collectives, universities if needed.
  • Help gather potential archival materials.

10. Website & File Maintenance

  • Upload content to the archive.
  • Create folders and organize files in Google Drive.
  • Light WordPress tasks (tags, titles, categories).

Eligibility

BDFA welcomes Bangladeshi volunteers from both within Bangladesh and abroad. Depending on the project, some tasks can be done from wherever you are, while others may take place in person in Bangladesh. Your location will not limit your ability to contribute, as long as you are aligned with our intersectional feminist values and able to commit your time with care.
