A two-month-old infant, Sabrina Jannat Mahira, was killed in Hathazari Upazila of Chattogram, with allegations that her father, Osman Goni, fatally assaulted her during a domestic incident. The incident occurred on Tuesday morning in Charia Muradpur village under Mirzapur Union.
According to police, Mahira’s mother, Sumaiya Akter, was sitting with the infant when Osman Goni asked for tea. Following a delay, he allegedly took the child from the bed and slammed her onto the floor multiple times. Family members rushed the infant to the Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared her dead.
After the incident, Osman Goni fled the scene. Police later recovered the body from the residence and sent it to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Police stated that a murder case is being prepared in connection with the incident. Mahira’s uncle, Roman (25), has been detained for questioning. Authorities said efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest the accused father.
