In Dhaka’s Pallabi area, a 68-year-old teacher, Firoza Khanam Josna, was found dead inside her residence after being beaten with a hammer. Police recovered the body on Friday from her flat on the second floor of a six-story building in Block D under Pallabi Police Station. A blood-stained hammer and an orna were found beside the body.

Firoza lived alone in one of three rooms in the flat, while another room was occupied by a tenant, Raju Munshi, who lives there with his family. According to police, she had long lived separately without family contact and worked as a private tutor, typically returning home late in the evening after teaching students.

The building’s security guard reported that Firoza returned home around 10:00 PM on Thursday. When she did not come out of her room by 10:30 AM the following day, he went to check on her and found the door slightly open. With a local resident, he entered the room and discovered her in a bloodied condition, after which police were informed.

Law enforcement officials, including the Criminal Investigation Department’s crime scene unit, visited the site and collected evidence. The body was later sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College morgue for autopsy. Police stated that the victim’s head had been critically injured, and preliminary findings indicate she was struck with the recovered hammer. Further investigation is ongoing.
